About
In 1999, Myoung Kim, affectionately known as Yumi, opened the doors to Yumi’s Sushi Bar in Excelsior, just steps from the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Her vision was simple: serve exceptional, high-quality sushi with genuine hospitality. For more than 20 years, Yumi built a beloved neighborhood restaurant around that philosophy, creating a legacy that continues today.
In 2018, as Yumi prepared for retirement, InnerBloom Hospitality became the owners and operators of Yumi’s, with a commitment to honoring what she had created while thoughtfully carrying the restaurant into its next chapter.
The name Yumi, as represented through Japanese characters, embodies dedication, freedom, excellence, and beauty—ideals that continue to inspire who we are and how we welcome our guests.
Today, Yumi’s Japanese Restaurant + Bar continues the tradition that began in Excelsior, with locations in Saint Paul’s historic Cathedral Hill neighborhood and the Southdale area in Edina. While Yumi has grown, the heart of the restaurant remains the same: exceptional sushi, quality ingredients, genuine hospitality, and a welcoming experience that brings people together.
We are proud to carry Yumi’s legacy forward and look forward to welcoming you.
